    Easy Vegan Black Bean Burgers

    These easy vegan black bean burgers are super simple with only 5 ingredients and ready in 15 minutes. They’re a tasty dinner or meal-prep recipe that you’ll want to make again & again!

    Vegan Black Bean Burger Ingredients:

    • 2 (15 oz) cans black beans, drained & rinsed
    • ½ cup old fashioned oats 
    • 2 teaspoons ketchup
    • 1 ½ teaspoons chili powder
    • Salt & pepper, to taste

    How to Make Black Bean Burgers:

    1️⃣ Step 1: Grind the oats

    In a food processor or blender, pulse the oats until they are ground into a fine consistency. 

    ? Step 2: Mix the ingredients

    in a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients. Use a fork or potato masher to mash and mix the beans. 

    ? Step 3: Make the patties

    Divide the mixture into 4 even portions. Shape each portion into a ball and then flatten it to make a patty. 

    ? Step 4: Cook the burgers

    In a large skillet over medium high heat, add 1 patty (or 2 if there’s room in your skillet). Cook for 5 - 7 minutes on each side, until cooked through and browned. Flip the burgers gently so that they maintain their shape. 

    ? Step 5: Serve

    Serve warm on a hamburger bun with all of your favorite fixings!

    Tips for This Recipe:

    Mash the beans in your food processor:

    If you like a smoother consistency to your burgers, add a can of beans to your food processor (after you blend the oats) and pulse until mostly smooth. Then add everything to a bowl and mash & mix together with a fork.

    Handle with care:

    Once your patties are formed, handle them with care as you cook/flip them. Once the burgers are cooked, they will be more firm.

    How to know when they're cooked:

    Cook the burgers for about 5 - 7 minutes on each side. The burgers should be heated through and slightly browned on each side.

    How to store black bean burgers:

    • In the fridge: once cooled, store the burgers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 - 4 days.
    • In the freezer: once cooled, store the burgers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
