    Tips for This Recipe

    • Oats: old fashioned rolled oats work best for this recipe (don't use quick oats)
    • Sweetener: this recipe calls for maple syrup but you can substitute your preferred sweetener (like honey)
    • To make the balls: after refrigerating, the ball mixture will be firm and it works best if you use your hands to shape and roll it

These are SOOO good! We like them when we go on a hike. Or after a hike. Or before a hike! Ok, they are good anytime for healthy energy in our family. Such a better choice than the premade bars.

        Hi Dawn,
You can use quick oats instead! I find that the texture of the recipe is best with old fashioned oats, which is why they're recommended. Quick cooks oats might make the balls turn out a little softer but it should still work & be tasty 🙂

Hi Ashley, I just calculated the nutrition facts for these and have added them to the bottom of the recipe! The nutrition facts are calculated per 1 ball (comes out to 159 calories & 4.6 grams of protein).
