Green Beans and Bacon

  • Author: Megan
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This recipe is for an easy way to make green beans and bacon in only 20 minutes. The best part is that the green beans get tossed with some of the bacon fat, making the whole dish decadent!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound green beans (trimmed & chopped (about 5 - 6 cups))
  • 5 strips thick cut bacon (chopped)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add the green beans and boil for 8 - 10 minutes. Drain.
  2. While the beans boil, cook the bacon. Add the bacon to a large skillet over medium heat and cook until crispy, stirring frequently, about 5 - 7 minutes.
  3. Drain all but 1 tablespoon of grease from the pan with the bacon.
  4. Add the green beans, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to the pan. Stir to mix and cook for 1 - 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Serve immediately.

Notes

Green beans: you can also use frozen green beans. Instead of boiling them, steam them so that they are cooked before adding them into the bacon.
